Welcome to my blog! My name is Psylocke Gaffud Antonio. I am 23 years, 2 months, 3 weeks, 2 days, 22 hours, 55 minutes, 48 seconds old (whew!) and I have a great mom, a cool dad, and a cute sister. I learned HTML & JavaScript when I was 7 years old and have been coding stuff ever since. I'm now building my PHP skills by helping develop MAJ, the software that powers this blog.

Those words may sound familiar to you. Maybe right now, you're already thinking about the sophomore album of the band, Bamboo. If you are doing so, then we are of the same mind set as of this moment! Hahaha.

Anyway, what do I really mean of these three words and why am I writing an entry about it? Despite the fact that I love the songs in the mentioned album, (hehe) I also want to relate it to our country's present situation since it is also composed mainly of songs about our very own Philippines.

Kaibigan
Hangga’t ako’y humihinga may pag-asa pa

Hallelujah

Sinong sawa sinong galit
Sumigaw ngayong gabi

Hallelujah

Blinded by the light
I could barely see the faces in front of me
Asking me where do we begin
Well for starters from within
I’m ashamed of what I’ve become in the mirror
The face of my one true enemy
Hallelujah it’s a new day
Let take control if I have to take this message door to door
Save myself save every soul
With permission I make this my personal mission
Save me from the fire… from the fire

Ngayong gabi ako ang sundalo mo
Habang ika’y tulog ako’y gising nakabantay sa iyo - kasi mahal kita
Tingnan mo pag-ibig ko’y sa iyo lamang

May kasama ka kapatid. Kaibigan
Hangga’t ako’y humihinga may pag-asa pa

Hallelujah

Sinong sawa sinong galit
Sumigaw ngayong gabi

Hallelujah

Light. Our present society is barely aware of the changes that have taken place in our country. It is not because they were not informed of these, but mostly because they choose to ignore it. A majority of the Filipinos had already lost hope for the country's development. Instead, they set their minds on how to break free from the bonds of economic crisis and not on how they can help their own community. (Then again, I do not speak of each and every Filipino but of the majority only.) Anyway, it's inevitable. Our country's present state could really easily lead our thoughts to such ideas of abandoning our homeland. Why is this so?

We are all searching for a light to guide us. A ray of light to follow and be able to lead us to the direction of our development. Sometimes, we fail to see that it is just within us. Our government is not the only one which can lead us. We can also be led by others while we do the same unto them. All we have to do is to complement each one. One of the best ways to do this is by not being dependent on others. We should also learn how to provide for ourselves while being prepared to help others, too. This is probably one of the simplest ways to be able to learn what is good for our own country and countrymen as well.

-

Peace. As they said, peace is not merely the absence of war or conflicts. It is also the state of the people's minds and how they live their lives in discipline and unity. Our government strives hard to diminish the presence of chaos in our country. Yet, it still puzzles us why our development is rarely increasing.

In my own opinion, no matter how hard we try to erase the anarchy in our country, we would not succeed in earning peace because of our lack of discipline. Discipline does not depend alone on how the government manages its people, but also on how we abide on it. If we learn how to develop our discipline, maybe we would be able to earn peace.

-

Love. According to I Cor. 13 4-7 (NEV): "Love is patient. kind, without envy. It is not boastful or arrogant. It is not ill-mannered nor does it seek its own interest. Love overcomes anger and forgets offenses. It does not take delight in wrong, but rejoices in truth. Love excuses everything, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."

Have you tried to ask yourself if you have love of your country? I have, but I wasn't able to answer my own question. There are many reasons why. First, I am happy to be a Filipino, but I am not ecstatic to live in a community with such a state of chaos. Next, I've always thought that our country has a lot of intelligent citizens but only a few are given the chance to excel. And lastly, I have also always thought that the grass is greener on the other side. So generally, it's not about being a Filipino, but rather about life in the Philippines. Still, we should all learn to love being who we are now and where our lives are.

--

Sometimes we should really allot time to stop, recollect our thoughts, and ask ourselves as Filipinos, "How is my country now?". Realizations of the truth will finally come to life and most likely, we will be able to learn how to appreciate our own nation and our own land. Then, let's all stand up and proudly sing:

Tingnan mo ang iyong palad
Kalyado mong kamay
Sa hirap ng buhay
Sa dami mong problema
Nakuha mo pang ngumiti
Noypi ka nga
Astig

Saan ka man naroroon
Wag kang matatakot
Sa baril o patalim
Sa bakas na madilim

Hoy
Pinoy ako
Buo aking loob
May agimat ang dugo ko
Hoy
Pinoy ako
May agimat ang dugo ko

Sinisid ko ang dagat
Nilibot ko ang mundo
Nasa puso ko pala
ang hinahanap kong kulo
Ilang beses na akong muntikang mamatay
Alam ko ang sekreto
kaya’t andito pa’t buhay

Sabi nila may anting-anting ako
